Official List Due Today
The links on the right hand side and list of players are not yet official. The official squad lists are due to be released by FIFA today, along with squad numbers. The current list has been taken from Wikipedia, hence there could be innaccuracies - you may notice the absence of Uruguay for example; this is because the player listed by Wikipedia, Ignacio Gonzales, revealed via his facebook site that he would be wearing the #18 shirt. Fairly obvious considering his photo. There have been a few bloopers in the world cup squads already, North Korea managing to name 21 outfield players and hence having to play one of their strikers in goal for this tournament. I cannot begin to imagine how this player is feeling. I will update the sites as soon as I know for certain the squad numbers for every player and start working on the pen portraits plus youtube clips for the representatives. I have only done absolute certainties so far.
Yesterday's Friendlies
Gio Dos Santos created a goal for Mexico, ironically in the 17th minute, in their 2-1 win over Italy. He was a danger up until he was substituted in the 51st minute with the score at 1-0. Mexico made Italy look terrible! Lee Chung-Yong played 90 minutes for South Korea against Spain in a match they eventually lost due to a stunning strike in the last five minutes. Neither Palombo for Italy or Arbeloa for Spain managed to get on the pitch. Meanwhile, Germany beat Bosnia 3-1, although PerMertesacker was reported as being slightly shaky at the back.
